the Pelvic Floor - a Workshop for Women

Do you ever pee a little when you run, jump, laugh or cough? Are you curious about prolapse, pelvic, lower back or hip pain? Do you have trouble with intimacy in the bedroom? Have you ever thought these may be all related?

You aren't alone - 1 in 3 women have some form of pelvic floor disorder. Too often these conditions are thought to be natural consequences of ageing and childbirth. But there is something you can do about it.

This 2- part workshop is designed to offer insight in to the symptoms you may be experiencing, and explores how to regain health, integrity and compassion for this very important part of the body. We will also discuss the impact of the abdominals and core, and how the pelvic floor can be utilised in asana.

Over the two sessions we will review basic anatomy/ function through discussion and lecture, and then explore subtle movements with the use of breath practices, allowing participants to create awareness and understanding of their own pelvic floors. Asanas that focus on the pelvic floor will be reviewed.
Yoga experience not required though helpful.

The Pelvic Floor Workshop I attended with Carmen provided a wealth of knowledge in a safe environment. The course flowed well, allowing information to build and provided opportunities to explore concepts in our own bodies. I was able to walk away with knowledge that could very easily be added into my yoga teaching, as well as my own daily life. Carmen provided a welcoming and safe environment that encouraged real conversation as she shared her passion for educating women about pelvic floor health. I would highly recommend this empowering course to all women.

Carmen’s Pelvic Floor Workshop was done in a small group, in a nurturing safe environment. The health of the pelvis is a neglected part of education, including yoga teacher training, yet so vitally important to every woman’s wellbeing and sense of self. I consider myself fortunate to have attended this workshop as I feel better educated, able to help myself and refer others to resources I did not know about. I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Carmen, as I realize there is so much more to know about this complex topic. Thank you Carmen.
